Tracy Heavrin

Work Coordinator and Direct Care Staff

In middle school l started using drugs recreationally and hanging out with the wrong crowds. I would skip school and run away frequently and was very disrespectful to my parents and all authority figures. This led my parents to send me away to the Indiana Soldiers and Sailors Children’s Home for 4 years until I graduated high school. I thought I had my life together. I got married, had my daughter, had a really good job, but that didn’t last very long. I left my husband, quit my job and met a man that was very toxic for me. When things were good between us they were very good but when they were bad between us, I always ended up in the hospital. I started using heroin and meth daily, and before I knew it I found myself in jail several times for multiple things. After going through this for 10 years, I finally hit rock bottom while sitting in my jail cell. While serving my sentence, I found out about Grace House Adult & Teen Challenge. Since coming to Grace House, I accepted Jesus in my heart and have been delivered from my addictions. I am building a strong relationship with God, and He is restoring the relationship with my 16 year daughter. I now know that God loves me, forgives me, and gives me grace. After graduating from Grace House, God called me to stay at Grace House. I serve on the staff team and I have the opportunity to help serve other women. Many women at Grace House have been in similar situations as I was in, and I am able to help them find hope and healing in Jesus. The Bible verse I stand on is Proverbs 31:25: Strength and honor are her dignity and she can laugh at the days to come
